Keran Wynter, also known as Keran Millard, was arrested on her return to St Kitts and Nevis on Wednesday, 30 September, under a bench warrant issued in connection with a pending criminal case, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions said.
Wynter, who has been indicted before the High Court of Saint Christopher and Nevis in relation to an alleged offence of larceny by servant, remains in police custody pending her court appearance.
The office said the bench warrant had previously been issued by the court. The case remains before the court, and Wynter is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty according to law.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the office thanked people in Antigua and Barbuda and across St Kitts and Nevis who provided information or otherwise lawfully assisted the authorities in locating Wynter and facilitating her return.
It said information and cooperation from members of the public had been of considerable assistance.
The office said the development demonstrated the importance of cooperation between the public, law enforcement and prosecutorial authorities in ensuring that people required to answer criminal proceedings are brought before the courts in accordance with the law.
It also thanked the law enforcement and other relevant authorities involved in the matter.
