KIBAHA: COAST Regional Commissioner Abubakar Kunenge has directed Kibaha District Council to innovate new revenue streams, including leveraging available resources to attract investors, in order to boost internal revenue collection and strengthen service delivery for residents.
He issued the directive recently during a special council meeting held to review the Controller and Auditor General (CAG) report for the 2024/2025 financial year.
Mr Kunenge commended the council for surpassing its 12bn/- internal revenue target, but urged it to continue identifying new opportunities rather than relying solely on traditional sources.
He also called on councillors to work closely with government officials to address community grievances in order to accelerate development in the district.
The Regional Commissioner further urged the council to capitalise on opportunities presented by the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), which has two stations in the district at Ruvu and Soga.
