Ubari, Libya

The Libyan Tuareg Tribes Movement has welcomed the outcomes of the structured dialogue on human rights and national reconciliation, particularly recommendations aimed at resolving the long-standing issue of holders of temporary civil registry records (administrative numbers).

In a statement, the movement praised the efforts of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) and all participants in the dialogue, describing the recommendations as an important step toward strengthening justice, human rights and national reconciliation.

The movement said the inclusion of the temporary civil registry issue in the dialogue’s recommendations represents explicit recognition of the hardships endured by thousands of families who have been deprived of fundamental civil rights, including legal identity and full citizenship rights.

It described the recommendations as a historic opportunity to address discrimination, exclusion and the need for equal treatment of all citizens.

The movement called on Libyan authorities to adopt the recommendations and implement them according to a clear timetable, while urging the United Nations and the international community to continue supporting and monitoring the process until the recommendations are fully implemented.

The statement reaffirmed the movement’s commitment to peaceful advocacy and cooperation with all stakeholders to build a Libya based on justice, equality and dignity for all citizens.
