Moses Conorquie sentenced to three months for crack pipe conviction

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Moses Conorquie, 45, has been sentenced to three months in prison after pleading guilty to possession of utensils used for smoking drugs.

Conorquie was sentenced on Monday by Magistrate Neeshad Mohammed in Court #5, one week after he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison pending sentencing.

The charge stems from an incident on Sunday, June 7, 2026, when police searched Conorquie in the Taylor’s Alley area of Belize City. Police say they found a grey metal pipe, measuring about 1 3/4 inches in length, in his pants pocket. The pipe was described as being used or adapted for smoking a controlled drug.

Conorquie pleaded guilty on June 8, 2026, and asked the court to impose a fine instead of a custodial sentence, saying he had a newborn child at home to care for.

However, the court noted his previous convictions, including convictions for similar drug-related offenses, and imposed a custodial sentence.

Conorquie will serve three months at the Belize Central Prison.
