The Namibia Airports Company (NAC) says no sensitive information was stolen or transferred in the recent cybersecurity incident the company suffered.
NAC spokesperson Dan Kamati says the incident involved unauthorised access to network infrastructure and administrative accounts.
He says although there is no evidence of data theft, investigations are ongoing to determine the full scope of the incident.
“Immediate containment measures were implemented, and remediation is currently in progress. Services were restored and operational disruption has been assessed as limited,” he says.
He says the safety of the system and stakeholders remains a priority, and safeguards such as enhanced firewall controls, restricted administrative access and improved monitoring have been deployed.
“We take the security of our systems and the trust of our stakeholders seriously. NAC will continue to provide updates as the investigation progresses and remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, security and operational resilience across all airports,” he says.
Kamati says NAC is working closely with its service providers and cybersecurity partners to strengthen defences, assess potential risks and prevent recurrence.
