SHEEN: Tell us a little bit about your background.

Wilson: My mom always says that when I was born, I came out of the womb laughing—as I burst into this world with joy already inside of me. But as I grew up, that laughter was often misunderstood. What was natural to me became an annoyance to others, and for a long time, I was told I wasn’t being serious.

Over time, and through my personal journey with God, I began to understand that my laughter wasn’t random or just for entertainment—it was intentional. God showed me that what once felt like persecution was actually part of my purpose.

That realization led me into my assignment: helping others experience healing, freedom, and the presence of God through intentional laughter. Today, I serve as a laughter transformation strategist, speaker, and author—also known as a Certified Laughter Leader, Joyologist, and proud Laughaholic—equipping people to overcome stress, anxiety, and emotional heaviness through joy. What I once felt I had to defend has now become the very thing I’ve been called to share with the world.

SHEEN: Why did you decide to write your book now?

Wilson: It is time; our country is spiraling down into more depression than ever. I was in Starbucks, and a man walked up to me and said that he was on his way home to commit suicide, and heard my laughter and said that joy still exists. This is my I wrote this book.

I wrote the book during the Pandemic. I was home for a year. God told me that I was not going to sit at home all day and binge-watch TV. So, I started praying and spending time with the Lord. I actually had a whole chapter finished and I was told by God to throw it out. We started over. I went back to work in March of 2021 and became so busy at work, that I neglected my book.

Then in September 2024, two people called and told me that God said it was time to get the book finished and published.

I prayed and hired a writing coach. LOL why? The book was finished. She was more of an accountability partner.

The timing is perfect because people are looking for more joy and laughter. Another reason is that our country is inundated with stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma more than ever. I read an article that said that by 2030, mental health is going to be the largest business and solution in the United States.

People want more joy, they need to feel safe and comfortable, people need to play more and laugh more.

SHEEN: What is your book about?

Wilson: My book Courageous Enough To Laugh: Joy in the Midst of Storms is an invitation to journey into the heart of laughter—not just as an emotion, but as a powerful, healing force. I share my personal story of how laughter helped me overcome childhood trauma and how it continues to be a daily tool in navigating life’s challenges.

Throughout the book, I open up about intimate encounters with God, where laughter became a place of connection, prayer, and breakthrough. I also provide practical strategies to help people intentionally incorporate laughter into their everyday lives.

More than anything, this book reveals laughter as a weapon, a source of healing, and a gateway to freedom. One of my favorite moments is sharing real-life encounters where people experienced healing through laughter—moments that reminded me that this gift is bigger than me.

This isn’t just a book to read, it’s an experience that invites you to laugh, heal, and live differently.

SHEEN: How can laughter be used as a weapon?

Wilson: Laughter is a weapon because it shifts the atmosphere. It disrupts heaviness, breaks cycles of fear, and reminds the enemy that he does not have the final say. It’s not just an emotional response—it’s a spiritual response.

As Mark Twain once said, “The human race has one really effective weapon, and that is laughter.” What many of us are just beginning to understand is that laughter is more than entertainment, it’s a transformative force and a divine instrument in spiritual warfare.

The Word of God tells us to be vigilant because the enemy is always seeking whom he may devour—but we’re not defenseless. We are equipped. When the enemy comes, we don’t just respond with resistance; we respond with ammunition: love, joy, forgiveness, and praise. And from that place, intentional laughter becomes an expression of joy and victory.

When you laugh in the middle of pressure, when you choose joy in the face of adversity, you are declaring that darkness will not overtake you. Laughter becomes a sound of freedom, a sound of healing, and a sound that confuses the enemy.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do in a battle is laugh—not because it’s funny, but because you already know you win.

SHEEN: How can one use laughter to get over life’s everyday challenges?

Wilson: Laughter is something you can be intentional about—it doesn’t have to wait for a funny moment. You can choose it, activate it, and allow it to shift your perspective in the middle of everyday life.

I’ve seen this firsthand. I had an employee who was working on a project and became stressed and stuck—she needed clarity. I suggested she pause and simply begin to laugh. Eventually, she would come into my office just to reset that way.

As she allowed herself to laugh—it started as a soft sound, then became more intentional and louder—you could feel the shift. The tension broke, barriers would came down, and suddenly there was space for creativity, clarity, and even peace. Within minutes, what once felt blocked became clear, and she was able to find the solution for her project.

And laughter is not just entertainment—science supports this. Studies show that intentional laughter, especially when expressed out loud for even a few minutes, can reduce stress and create space for creativity and clearer thinking. That’s the power of intentional laughter—it creates room where pressure once lived.

In my book, specially in the chapter named “Conclusion, But Not the End,” I share practical strategies to help people begin their own journey with laughter. These aren’t just ideas; they are tools you can apply in real time, whether you’re facing stress, emotional heaviness, or just the weight of daily life.

I also guide readers through moments of prayer, because I believe laughter and God’s presence work together. When you invite Him into your day, even your laughter becomes a form of release, healing, and strength.

For those who are ready to begin right away, I offer a free resource on my website—5 Steps to a Laughter Break—designed to help you pause, reset, and re-engage life with joy.

This journey is more than just feeling better—it’s about learning how to live lighter, think clearer, and face life with renewed strength. And that’s exactly what Courageous Enough to Laugh was created to help you experience.

Because sometimes, the breakthrough you’re looking for doesn’t start with an answer—it starts with a laugh.

SHEEN: What are seven (7) tips and takeaways that can be found in the book?

  1. Choose intentional laughter.
  2. Laughter doesn’t have to wait for a funny moment or watch a funny tv show—you can activate it as a daily practice to shift your mindset and atmosphere.
  3. Use laughter as a reset.
  4. In moments of stress or overwhelm, laughter can break tension, clear your mind, and create space for clarity and peace.
  5. Invite God into your laughter.
  6. Laughter isn’t separate from your spiritual life—it can be a place of connection, prayer, and experiencing God’s presence.
  7. Turn pain into purpose.

We have to learn to forgive. Forgiveness is a power arsenal to defeat pain. When I began forgiving, my pain became purpose.

Understand laughter as a weapon.

Laughter can disrupt fear, push back darkness, and remind you that joy and victory still belong to you.

A moment of laughter with God Journal.

Whether through prayer, breathing, or small intentional moments can transform how you navigate your day. Spend time with God laughing and journal what you hear.

Give yourself permission to laugh.

You don’t have to carry everything so heavily—laughter helps you breathe, release, and embrace life with renewed strength.

SHEEN: What do you hope your readers (audience) gain from reading the book?

Wilson: My hope is that readers don’t just read this book—they experience it. I want them to laugh, to cry, to reflect, and ultimately to heal.

I want them to encounter breakthroughs in areas where they’ve felt stuck, heavy, or overwhelmed, and to discover that joy is still available to them—no matter what they’ve faced. This book creates space for release, restoration, and a deeper connection with God through laughter.

More than anything, I want readers to walk away lighter, freer, and empowered—with the understanding that laughter is not just a response, but a tool they can use to navigate life with strength and courage.

Because sometimes your healing doesn’t begin with answers—it begins with a laugh.

SHEEN: How can we purchase the book?

That option is more than just a bookits an experience centered around laughter, healing, and joy.

SHEEN: Do you have any final thoughts or remarks?

Wilson: Laughter, to me, is more than a reaction—it’s an expression that inspires joy. That is my purpose and my destiny. I’m not a comedian; I’m a teacher, called to show people how to use laughter intentionally.

And there’s power in it—both spiritually and practically. Even science shows us that laughter can lower blood pressure, strengthen the immune system, and break down barriers. It even burns a few calories along the way.

But beyond that, laughter has the ability to shift atmospheres, lift heaviness, and push back darkness. It reminds us that joy is still available.

And I truly believe this—God loves to laugh. So invite Him into your moments of laughter… you never know, He might just share one of His jokes.

Thank you for this opportunity to share the joy of the Lord.
