WASHINGTON (AURN News) — Rising prices continue to hammer household budgets, and National Urban League President and CEO Marc Morial says policies coming out of Washington are making matters worse.
During an interview with AURN News, Morial pointed to tariffs and the conflict involving Iran as two major factors driving up costs for American families.
“The tariffs, the insanity of these thoughtless tariffs, which have basically increased the cost of almost everything we buy,” Morial said.
Morial also blamed the conflict involving Iran for adding pressure at the gas pump.
“The Iran War, another political decision, costing us $2 billion a day and spiking gas prices in some places up to five to six dollars,” he said.
Morial argued that many Americans fail to connect economic pain with political decisions made in Washington.
“When we vote, we’re voting to impact economic policy,” he said.
As families continue dealing with rising costs, Morial said voters should pay close attention to the policies that affect their wallets.
“Political decisions affect economic policy,” he said.
