NCBA targets SMEs with new business banking drive

NCBA Bank Uganda has intensified its focus on small and medium enterprises with the launch of a new Business Banking proposition, rolled out alongside the “Ku NCBA Kiggwa Ku Bwerere” campaign.

The move signals the bank’s growing push to position itself as a key partner for Ugandan businesses, offering faster access to credit, simplified banking, and practical support to help enterprises scale.

Speaking at the launch, NCBA Bank Uganda Chief Executive Officer Mark Muyobo said the initiative aligns with the bank’s purpose of empowering entrepreneurs and supporting business growth.

“Small and medium enterprises account for over 70 percent of Uganda’s private sector activity, yet many still struggle with limited access to finance, cash flow challenges, and the need for digital transformation,” Muyobo said.

“Through this new Business Banking proposition, we are offering financial solutions, expertise, and partnerships that businesses need to grow with confidence,” he added.

Under the new package, businesses will access a range of tailored financing options, including unsecured invoice discounting of up to Shs 500 million, unsecured LPO financing of up to Shs 180 million, unsecured business loans of up to Shs 200 million, and education financing of up to Shs 500 million. The bank will also provide asset financing of up to 90 percent of invoice value.

Customers will benefit from zero transaction and loan arrangement fees for the first six months, as well as a commitment to receive credit decisions within 48 hours.

To further strengthen SME growth, NCBA has partnered with MAT Abacus to roll out a free Enterprise Development Programme for its customers. The programme will offer training, mentorship, and advisory support in areas such as financial management, governance, tax compliance, business planning, and sustainable growth.

The bank also highlighted its digital platforms, NCBA Now and NCBA ConnectPlus, as key tools for modern business operations. The platforms allow customers to manage accounts, make payments, approve transactions, and track cash flows in real time.

The “Ku NCBA Kiggwa Ku Bwerere” campaign reinforces the bank’s push to make business banking simpler, faster, and more accessible, while encouraging entrepreneurs to take advantage of growth opportunities.

Abel Mwesigye, Chief Executive Officer of KACITA, welcomed the initiative, saying strong partnerships are critical to private sector growth.

“The growth of Uganda’s private sector depends on financial institutions that understand the realities of doing business. This initiative brings together financing, innovation, and business support needed for SMEs to scale sustainably,” he said.

As part of the wider NCBA Group, the bank said it will continue leveraging its regional presence to support businesses engaged in cross-border trade and expansion.
