Nghimtina died on 8 February, and will be laid to rest on 21 February at the Eenhana Shrine in the Ohangwena region, a historic monument that pays tribute to the heroes and heroines of Namibia’s liberation struggle.

The government announced that a series of memorial events will precede the burial. A Swapo Party memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, followed by a community memorial service on Thursday, and a state memorial service on Friday.

All services will take place at the Nghimtina home at Edundja.

Nghimtina served in various capacities in the government and was regarded as a seasoned Swapo figure, having played a role in Namibia’s liberation struggle.
