The eighth edition of the Atlas Workshops highlights a new generation of African filmmakers developing feature films and documentaries across the continent.
The Marrakech International Film Festival has unveiled its selections for the 2025 Atlas Workshops, with significant focus on films from the African continent.
Now in its eighth year, the Atlas Workshops is an industry and talent-development programme which creates a space for exchange between international professionals and regional talents.
The participant selection follows a call for applications for projects in development and films in post-production by filmmakers from the Arab world or the African continent who are developing or directing their first, second, or third feature-length narrative, documentary, or animated film.
Several African films made the cut for this year’s lineup, including:
Projects In Development
CHAPA 100 – Ique Langa (Mozambique)
2nd fiction feature
LES DIEUX DÉLINQUANTS – Boubacar Sangaré (Burkina Faso)
1st fiction feature
LAST COW – Amil Shivji (Tanzania)
2nd fiction feature
VANDA – Kamy Lara (Angola)
1st fiction feature
Films In Shooting Or Post-Production
GOMA ENOUGH IS ENOUGH (GOMA TROP C’EST TROP) – Elisé Sawasawa (Democratic Republic Of Congo)
1st feature documentary
VAGABONDS – Amartei Armar (Ghana)
1st fiction feature
Participating projects and films receive tailor-made support—both online and in Marrakech—through consultations on scriptwriting, production, distribution, editing, and scoring, according to their individual needs and production stage. Participants also receive mentorship through an extensive creative lab, and film teams compete for cash prizes
In addition, the projects and films are showcased at a co-production market, where filmmakers have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with international professionals to find co-producers, sales agents, or other partners.
The 2025 Atlas Workshops will hold from 30th November to 4th December, 2025.
