Pesticides Control Board engages stakeholders for modernization of Pesticides Regulatory Framework in Belize

The Pesticides Control Board (PCB) has commenced the stakeholder engagement consultation process to review and modernize the Pesticides Regulatory Framework in Belize.

The first consultation with key stakeholders was held yesterday at the conference room at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security and New Growth Industries (MAFSNGI).

The session was declared open by Chairman of the PCB Gareth Murillo and CEO in the Ministry Servulo Baeza delivered the special remarks.

The Consultant conducting the consultation and legislative review is Serbia national Milan Ivic who has over 20 years experience in pesticides management and regulatory systems.

During the in-country mission Ivic will lead consultations for the drafting of modernized amendments to existing pesticides legislation, which will be presented for approval by the Government of Belize.

Attending the consultation were the Board of Directors of the PCB, including public and private sector stakeholders, the Attorney General’s Ministry and senior staff members from the PCB’s parent Ministry.
