POLICE have confirmed a plane crash involving a small craft in Zaka, Masvingo province Sunday afternoon.
The plane carrying two passengers was travelling from Harare enroute to Chipinda Pools.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the tragedy.
“The ZRP confirms an aircraft crash which occurred on 15th March 2026 at around 1100hours at Nyoka village, Zaka, Masvingo province.
“One person was killed while another person was injured when an aircraft carrying two occupants crashed before being engulfed by fire. The aircraft, which was travelling from Komani Aerodrome in Mt Hampden, Harare to Chipinda Pools, had reportedly developed a mechanical fault and began emitting an unusual sound,” Nyathi said.
Police and aviation authorities are reportedly investigating circumstances leading to the fatal crash.
Nyathi said more details regarding the accident will be availed in due course.
