PM Modi, Amit Shah at ‘war with citizens’ to protect Gyanesh Kumar, says CJP

The Cockroach Janta Party on Sunday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah of shielding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, as its leaders addressed their first press conference after being released from detention, The Hindu reported.
Abhijeet Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were detained on Saturday, minutes after their flights landed at Delhi Airport ahead of protests demanding Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the conduct of the special intensive revision of electoral rolls. A Delhi court on Sunday ordered their release on the condition that they do not breach the peace for one year.
During the press conference, CJP leader Saurav Das alleged that the government was suppressing peaceful dissent to protect the chief election commissioner and said the country was being pushed towards a “civil-war-like situation”.
“The state is at war with its own citizens,” Das said. He also accused the government of targeting journalists during the protests.
“The government has completely lost it…,” Das said. “All to protect Gyanesh Kumar, who is traitor number one. The government is scared that these youth who are awakened will seek answers. Hence, they are resorting to violence.”
“The entire country is facing an emergency-like situation,” he said.
