*Porsha Williams is embracing a new chapter in both her personal life and public identity, choosing authenticity over definition as she speaks about her same-sex relationship with Patrice “Sway” McKinney.
“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star has drawn increased attention since confirming their relationship in 2025. As her romance with McKinney became part of her storyline on the reality show, curiosity surrounding her sexuality quickly followed. During a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, she addressed the topic directly, explaining her reluctance to adopt traditional labels.
“Are you a lesbian, are you bisexual… I don’t have a label. I’m just Porsha-Sexual. I’m just exploring. Now I’m Sway-Sexual,” Williams said, per BOSSIP.
Rather than aligning herself with a specific identity, Williams emphasized her openness and comfort with self-discovery. While she acknowledged she isn’t bothered by common terms, she clarified that they don’t define her. She shared that she “doesn’t feel pressure to label myself,” reinforcing her focus on personal freedom rather than public categorization.
“At this moment, I don’t mind if you want to call me a lesbian. I don’t mind if, you know, bisexual is a phrase, but I don’t know what comes with that. I’m kind of new with all that. But I’m not offended by it at all,” she explained.
Her connection with McKinney has played a central role in that sense of ease. Reflecting on their dynamic, she explained, “What I find with Sway is that I feel very comforted. I feel very seen, very patient.” The relationship, she added, has unfolded at a deliberate pace, describing it as “very soft” while noting they are intentionally taking their time.
Williams also addressed assumptions about her sexuality being temporary. When questioned, she dismissed the idea, pointing instead to the evolving nature of relationships. “Well, my diet changed on men too, and then I divorced them when they were not good for me as well,” she said, adding, “Your diet could change with anything, and her’s could change from me too. You never know the future.”
Continuing that thought, she pushed back on public reactions, stating, “I don’t know why it seems like I’m the first person to be gay now… It’s 2026.”
In a separate appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Williams made her feelings clear. “I love her,” she said, before highlighting the foundation of their bond: “She lets me be me” and “We celebrate each other, We support each other.”
