Hilary Mukundane and Frank Ssebuufu scored for Vipers and SC Villa respectively in a closely contested league fixture at fully packed Fufa stadium, Kadiba.
The spoils were shared leaving the title race wide open just in case KCCA or Kitara capitalise on Friday but how did each set of players rate on the evening? Ismael Kiyonga keenly watched the game and rates the Jogoos.
David Lukwago 9.0: He made a good reaction to deny Milton Karisa late on and that save won him the man of the match accolade deservedly.
David Owori 7.0: Started slow against Chukwuma but later firmly grew into the game and defended so well. He also had time to bomb forward.
Simon Ssemayange 7.5: Handled Usama Arafat as well as anyone could have and also produced some brilliant moments on the ball under pressure. Unfortunate to concede a corner that never was and it led resulted into Vipers’ opener.
Barasa Mangoli 8.5: Calm under pressure, confident on the ball and never afraid to play from the back. What a player! What a performance!
Geoffrey Lubangakene 7.0: He was heavily involved throughout and kept tight on Karisa. Brilliant in the air, good on ground.
Misi Diego Ssemugera 7.0: Stood his ground against both Ssebagala and Watambala in a midfield battle where he literally came out on top.
Aslam Ssemakula 6.0: Generally, not as influential as he was against KCCA struggling to exert anywhere as much influence as his partner. But still, he had decent touches that easily beat off opponents.
Najib Yiga 6.0: Could have done better in a few situations, but he was unlucky not to get his name on the score sheet when he got at the end of Hassan Mubiru cross on the counter and played several strong passes in transition.
Patrick Kakande 6.0: His directness and runs at right back Mandela drew cheers from the ecstatic crowd and curled his effort just wide in the first half. Unfortunately came off injured in the second half.
Frank Ssebuufu 7.5: Another decent performance against Vipers and bravely got the equalizing goal beating Kiggundu in the air. Held up the ball brilliantly and enjoyed a good battle with centre backs Mukundane and Daslyva.
Hassan Mubiru 8.0: Only showed glimpses of what he can do during the first half but went close with a couple of classic curling efforts after the break before finally taking matters into his own hands beating three Vipers players before he passed to Yiga who set up Ssebuufu. A terrific talent.
Substitutes
Reagan Mpande 6.0: Replaced injured Kakande and kept Mandela on tenterhooks all through. Nearly beat Kiggundu for pace in the second half as he came close to winning it.
Geoffrey Gaganga 6.0: Came on for Yiga and brought more intelligence in the middle of the pack. Sent a shot just wide.
Ibrahim Kasinde N/a: Nearly set up the winner when he came on late.
Andrew Otim N/a: Replaced goalscorer Ssebuufu late on to be rated.
Head Coach: Zeljko Kovacevic 7.0: Good choice to keep same team but maybe could have made changes early on when Vipers appeared to struggle against pace.
