Old Road Daggers emerged 78-63 winners over Da Project in their decisive game-three in the Antigua and Barbuda Basketball Association’s (ABBA) Division 2 Playoffs on Wednesday night, booking their place in the semifinals round of the competition.
Playing in the lone game at the JSC Basketball Complex, Daggers dominated all four quarters, outscoring their opponents 17-16, 18-15, 24-20 and 19-12 to claim the series decider and quell any hopes of a comeback after Da Project had clinched game two by an 84-83 margin to level the series 1-1.
Kelvin “Shugy” Simon led the scoring for Daggers with 23 points while claiming eight rebounds. He had help from Devia Aaron with 13 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double.
In a losing effort, veteran Bryan “Hollywood” Matthew sank 18 points on five of 17 shooting and grabbed 14 rebounds. His son, Nathan Matthew, contributed with 17 points and seven rebounds while Donte Trimingham had 15 points and 15 rebounds. Kevin Pimentel contributed with 12 points.
Daggers will face Phoenix in the semifinals round while Cedar Grove Gunners and Ovals Ojays will play in the other semifinal. Division 2 semis tip off on Saturday.
