FROM SOUTH LONDON TO THE WORLD: SAYCE HOLMES-LEWIS AND LEON WRIGHT ARE BET INTERNATIONAL’S GLOBAL GOOD AWARD 2025 HONOUREES

London, UK – June 10, 2025 — BET International is proud to announce that Sayce Holmes-Lewis and Leon Wright, co-founders of Mentivity, will be honoured with the prestigious 2025 BET International Global Good Award. This accolade recognizes their unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, social justice, and community transformation through their groundbreaking work with Mentivity.
Since founding Mentivity in 2016, Holmes-Lewis and Wright have led the organization to become a beacon of hope and opportunity for over 25,000 young people across the UK and internationally, including in Barbados, Kenya, Uganda, and Zambia. Mentivity’s holistic approach to mentoring and education has earned national acclaim, including the ‘National Mentoring Programme of the Year’ award in 2019.
Holmes-Lewis’s journey into activism and mentorship is deeply rooted in personal experience. At just 14 years old, he endured a traumatic encounter with police brutality—an event that ignited his lifelong mission to challenge systemic racism and advocate for cultural competency in policing. His work with the Mayor’s Office for Police and Crime (MOPAC) has led to the development of a pioneering police training program aimed at dismantling institutional bias.
Leon Wright, a dedicated youth mentor and community leader, has played a pivotal role in shaping Mentivity’s inclusive and culturally responsive programs. His deep connection to the communities Mentivity serves and his commitment to nurturing young people’s potential have been instrumental in the organization’s success and impact.
Beyond Mentivity, both Holmes-Lewis and Wright are respected thought leaders on youth development, racial equity, and community investment. Their efforts have garnered support from influential figures, including the Prince of Wales, and have inspired initiatives such as the launch of a free-access 4G football pitch on the Aylesbury Estate and the creation of Mentivity House—a safe and empowering space for young people and the wider community.
“To be recognised on a global stage by BET is a profound honour,” said Sayce Holmes-Lewis. “This award is a testament to the power of purpose, the strength of community, and the resilience of our young people.”

Leon Wright added, “Our mission has always been about creating real, lasting change. This recognition fuels our commitment to continue building bridges, breaking cycles, and believing in the brilliance of our youth.”

“Sayce Holmes-Lewis and Leon Wright exemplify the spirit of the Global Good Award,” said Monde Twala, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Paramount Africa and Lead, BET International. “Their work is not only changing lives—it’s reshaping systems and creating a legacy of empowerment for generations to come.”
