Sydney Peyreffitte gets full disclosure in ‘Big Tom’ murder case; PI set for November 13

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Sydney Peyreffitte, the tour guide and businessman charged with the murder of Kenneth “Big Tom” Flowers, has finally received full disclosure in the case, clearing the way for his Preliminary Inquiry to begin in November.

Peyreffitte appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Friday, September 4, where he was provided with a total of 115 pages of disclosure, eight photographs and four DVDs.

His Preliminary Inquiry, which will determine whether there is sufficient evidence for him to stand trial in the High Court, has been set for November 13, 2026.

The development comes after several delays in the disclosure process. In July, the Chief Magistrate declined to set a PI date because prosecutors had not yet provided Peyreffitte with the complete evidence against him. The court was told that a forensic officer previously assigned to complete outstanding material had left the jurisdiction and another officer had been tasked with the work.

Interestingly, during an earlier court appearance in June, Peyreffitte specifically asked whether he would receive a DVD because police had reportedly indicated that the fatal shooting was captured on video. A prosecutor told the court at the time that there was no DVD. Friday’s disclosure, however, included four DVDs, although it is not yet clear what material they contain.

Peyreffitte, who is represented by attorney Bryan Neal but appeared without counsel on Friday, has been on remand since October 8, 2025, when he was arraigned for Flowers’ murder.

Flowers, 47, was shot on October 6, 2025, after multiple shots were fired at the Chevrolet Equinox he was driving in Belize City. He later died at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Police subsequently arrested Peyreffitte and charged him with murder.

Peyreffitte remains on remand pending the November 13 Preliminary Inquiry.
