Cal State San Bernardino has a new performing arts center.
A ceremony featuring music and theater students was held this week to celebrate the opening of the new 73,337-square-foot facility on campus.

Many were able to catch their first glimpse inside the new building at the Wednesday, March 4 event, as tours were given to those in attendance.
The building is home to a 500-seat theater, rehearsal rooms, faculty offices and student lounges.
Four years in the making, construction began in September 2022, on the “state-of-the-art” facility, that officials said at the time would breed academic success.
“Research shows that student learning and achievement increase when students are taught in new, rebuilt or renovated structures,” Rafik Mohamed, now-provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, said at the time of the groundbreaking. “Specifically, campus facilities have been shown to positively affect student health, student behavior, engagement and attendance, all of which are associated with improved student achievement.”
Cal State San Bernardino serves about 18,000 students each year on its two campuses — the main campus in San Bernardino and the Palm Desert campus. And now after this week, those students can access the new performing arts center too.
