Uganda U17 Women’s National Football Team took advantage in their first round Women’s World Cup Qualifier fixture against Zimbabwe as the two teams faced off on Sunday.

In the first leg game played at Ngoni Stadium in Harare, the Teen Cranes secured a 2-0 win to take control of the tie.

First half goals from Immaculate Acen and Lydia Namaseruka guided Uganda to victory.

Uganda was dominant from the start and the opening goal arrived just eleven minutes into the game with Acen beating Zimbabwe defenders for pace before slotting the ball past the goalkeeper.

Four minutes later, Namaseruka struck from outside the area to double Uganda’s advantage.

Despite improvement from the hosts thereafter, Uganda remained resolute to earn the win and take advantage ahead of the return leg.

The second leg is slated for 18th April 2026 at FUFA Stadium Kadiba with the winner on aggregate taking on either Namibia or Kenya in the second qualifying round.
