Thief smashes through wall to rob Orange Walk bar

By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A burglar broke through the wall of a restaurant and bar in Orange Walk Town, making off with more than $1,500 in cash, and the entire ordeal was reportedly caught on camera.

According to the Belize Police Department, the owner of the business in the Petville area reported that the break-in was discovered on Sunday, June 28, 2026, around 10:00 a.m., after a worker alerted her that the establishment had been damaged and ransacked.

Upon arriving, the owner reported finding a large hole in the wall on the north side of the building, made of PVC piping, which had been broken to gain entry. Inside, she said the place had been ransacked. Missing was a plastic bottle containing $1,400 that she kept beside the cash register, along with a further $150 taken from the register itself. The damage to the building was valued at $250, bringing the total loss to around $1,550.

The owner told police she reviewed her security cameras, which reportedly captured a man breaking through the wall behind the counter in the early hours of the morning and ransacking the premises before taking the cash.

Police recorded a statement, and court action was requested. Investigators have identified a person they wish to speak with in connection with the burglary, and the matter remains under investigation.
