Trump’s Deflating Attendance At Knicks NBA Finals Game 3 Was An Absolute Disgrace

Black Star News Editorial Photos: YouTube Screenshots|Wikimedia Commons On Monday night, in the biggest New York Knicks game since the 1999 NBA Finals, the most divisive president in the history of America brought his bad bigoted energy to Madison Square Garden–and the Knicks historic NBA playoff run of 13 consecutive wins ended, as Trump slept in his seat. This disastrous outcome, of the Knicks most anticipated home game this season, brings to mind the title of Lincoln Project’ co-founder Rick Wilson’s book “Everything Trump Touches Dies.” Trump’s attendance at Monday’s Knicks-Spurs game caused major chaos including: fans who had to wait longer to get into the arena, because of the extra security measures; the disruption of the watch party setup outside the Garden; traffic nightmares; and nearby businesses whose expectations of increased revenues were dashed by the arrival of America’s worst and first felon president. Reportedly, Knicks owner James Dolan invited Trump to the game. Assuming that is true, this was definitely one of Dolan’s dumbest decisions ever. Monday was supposed to be a celebration of the achievements of this outstanding Knicks team. Why would Dolan muck it up by inviting the most polarizing president to come to Madison Square Garden–where his presence diminished the spotlight focus that should have been reserved exclusively for the Knicks? Did Dolan think of Knicks fans at all? Dolan has to know Trump is hated by many New Yorkers, particularly those who live in New York City. Did he not seriously weigh the negative reaction Knicks fans would have to Trump presence? Did he not consider that because of Trump’s hateful comments about New York City (not to mention his racist immigration policies, and his ICE invasion actions) that we would witness the boos and heckling which occurred because of the presence of president jackass? However, some think Trump is the one who asked Dolan if he could come to the Knicks game.Given Trump’s pathetic craving to be accepted by real stars and celebrities this is a possibility. For all his petty posturing, Trump is a whiny wimp who wishes to be validated by people with actual star power. But does this absolve Dolan from his wretched decision to welcome this criminal president to the Knicks game? Hell no. Then there is this: Trump is not only Dolan’s friend but he is a major political contributor to Trump. For example, Dolan reportedly gave $300,000 dollars to a Trump PAC in 2016 and another $125,000 in 2017. Also, they are so close that both Dolan, and his son, were married at Trump’s Mar-A-Lago club. What is troubling here is this: again we see a white man who makes hundreds of millions off of Black athletes supporting the most anti-Black president of our time Donald Trump. One can only wonder what the Black players on the Knicks team think of this? Let’s not forget how Trump attacked Black athletes including former NFL player Colin Kaepernick, while he was protesting police violence and their murders of Black people. Dolan should be made to answer questions regarding whether he agrees with Trump’s racist claims against Black athletes and Black Americans. Tonight, the Knicks will attempt to go up 3-1. For James Dolan’s sake he better pray the Knicks right the ship and win this series. Because if they don’t, Knicks fans will never forgive Dolan for inviting his racist friend Donald Trump to a game 3 where he didn’t belong, and was not wanted by the Knicks fans. Go Knicks!
