In a statement released on June 15, the label acknowledged that unforeseen circumstances prevented the artist from taking the stage, disappointing fans who had attended the event specifically to see him perform.

The apology was directed to Afro Sunday organisers, The Palace, and concertgoers who were left waiting for a performance that never took place. Santilala Records admitted that while the circumstances may have been beyond their control, their handling of communication surrounding the incident fell short.

“We failed to communicate with the urgency and transparency the situation demanded, and that was wrong,” the statement said.

The label also recognised the impact the cancellation had on Afro Sunday’s organisers, who had invested time, resources, and marketing efforts into promoting Tshego Santana‘s appearance. Santilala Records accepted responsibility for the damage caused to both the event’s reputation and its financial performance.

“We understand the damage this has caused to Afro Sunday’s reputation and their bottom line. That responsibility sits with us,” the statement read.

According to the release, Tshego Santana remains committed to resolving the matter and is currently in direct discussions with event organisers. Possible solutions being considered include a rescheduled performance at The Palace, financial compensation, or a combination of both.

The artist also extended gratitude to fans who attended the event despite the disappointment, acknowledging that they deserved better communication and greater respect for their time.

“You deserved better communication and better respect for your time,” the statement noted.

While no further details were provided regarding the circumstances that led to the missed performance, Santilala Records said it is treating the matter with the seriousness it deserves and is actively working toward a resolution.

The statement marks the first official response from Tshego Santana’s camp regarding the incident and signals an effort to rebuild trust with both organisers and supporters as discussions continue.
