There is a Two Ticks (or Disability Confident Scheme), a UK government initiative, symbolised by two ticks, designed to encourage employers to hire and retain disabled people.

The Scheme pledged guaranteed interviews, workplace adjustments, and a promise to improve, retain, and develop staff. Like a lot of official initiatives for disabled people, it is bullshit, it is just for show, as many disabled workers can testify. Employers receive a pat on the back regardless of any actual culture change.

I have invented the ‘Two Tits’ Scheme, which is committed to support disabled people into work, provided they:

• Don’t ask for too much

• Never inconvenience management

• Be inspirational and not authentic

• Never utter the word ‘discrimination’ in the workplace.

• Accessibility is only available after long delays and budget approval

BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN POLICY AND REALITY – by pretending it isn’t there!

I think mine is the more truthful organisation. Shall I do an awards ceremony?
