Tyra Banks is preparing to take legal action against Netflix over its new America’s Next Top Model documentary — and she’s making it clear she did not sign off on the project.
According to multiple reports, Banks says the streamer used her image and likeness without permission. In a statement shared through her representatives, Banks said she was “blindsided” by the documentary and “never agreed to participate in or authorize the use of my name, image or story in this production.”
The Hollywood Reporter said that Banks claims the series used selective editing and missing context to misrepresent her answers.
Banks alleges that the documentary created a false narrative about her role in some of the show’s most serious controversies. The complaint says the finished series damaged her reputation by making her appear dismissive, forgetful, or responsible for situations she says were not fairly presented to her.
Netflix has not publicly responded to Banks’ claims.
