CONTROVERSIAL former Zanu PF Central Committee member Blessed Runesu Geza, popularly known as ‘Cde Bombshell’ who recently died in South Africa, will be laid to rest today at his homestead in Sanyati, Mashonaland West province.

The fiery politician, a liberation war hero and former Sanyati Member of Parliament, died due an undisclosed ailment while holed up in the neighbouring country from where he launched scathing attacks against President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s bid to extend his stay in office beyond his second and final term which concludes in 2028.

Geza’s remains were repatriated back to Zimbabwe over the weekend before a memorial service was held in Harare ahead of burial today, February 16 at Chenjiri farm in the Moyo Musande area of Sanyati.

The controversial politician had been a fugitive since February 2025, facing multiple criminal charges, including terrorism and called for mass protests to demand Mnangagwa’s resignation.

He was later expelled from the party in March 2025 after the public attacks against Mnangagwa, accusing him of corruption, treason, nepotism, and betraying the ideals of the liberation struggle.

Geza was born in 1943 and passed on February 6, 2026, as a fugitive in a foreign land, although Zanu PF declared him a liberation war hero.
