Warri Wolves suffered a damaging setback in their Nigeria Premier Football League campaign after a heavy 3-0 defeat to Nasarawa United on Matchday 35, while Rangers International climbed back to the top of the table with a spirited comeback win over Enyimba.

For Warri Wolves, it was a frustrating afternoon as Nasarawa United dominated proceedings and claimed all three points in convincing fashion.

Victor Chimezie broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute from the penalty spot after persistent pressure from the hosts.

The second half brought no relief for the visitors as Ngei Oluka-Efor doubled the advantage before Habibu Alakija added a third to complete a one-sided contest.

The defeat leaves Warri Wolves under growing pressure as the race to avoid relegation enters a crucial stage.

In Enugu, Rangers International delivered one of the standout performances of the weekend by defeating rivals Enyimba 2-1 in the Oriental derby to reclaim first place in the league standings.

Enyimba looked set for a famous away result when Wonah Williams fired them ahead in the 49th minute.

However, Rangers responded strongly in front of their supporters.

Chidozie Iwundu restored parity in the 61st minute before Ifeanyi Onyebuchi completed the turnaround seven minutes later to send the Flying Antelopes back to the summit.

Elsewhere, Shooting Stars pulled off one of the biggest surprises of the round with a dramatic 2-1 away victory over El Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri.

John Zakka gave the hosts the lead, but Qamar Adegoke struck twice, including a late winner in the 86th minute, to seal a memorable comeback.

Abia Warriors also secured an important 2-1 win over Ikorodu City in Umuahia.

Paul Samson opened the scoring before Valentine Ugwu added a second, with Aderemi Adeoye finding the net for the visitors.

Defending champions Remo Stars maintained their strong form with a commanding 3-0 triumph over Niger Tornadoes.

Victor Mbaoma scored early, Olamilekan Adedayo extended the lead in first-half stoppage time, and Samuel Anakwe wrapped up the victory late on.

Kwara United edged Barau FC 2-1 in Ilorin thanks to goals from Toheeb Gidado and Saheed Olaniyi, while Joseph Atule scored Barau’s consolation goal.

In Kano, fans witnessed late drama as Kano Pillars defeated Rivers United 2-1.

Abdullahi Musa opened the scoring in the closing stages, Handsome Surveyor equalised for Rivers United, but veteran striker Ahmed Musa struck deep into stoppage time to hand Pillars victory.

With only a few matches left in the season, Rangers have strengthened their title ambitions, while Warri Wolves face an anxious battle to secure their top-flight status.
