Why KCCA Men’s VC withdrew from CAVB Men’s ACC

While KCCA Ladies’ Volleyball Club is representing the nation in Cairo, KCCA Men’s Volleyball Club will not take part in the 47th CAVB Men’s Volleyball Club.

This comes after a late withdrawal from the continental showpiece that will be hosted by APR Volleyball Club in Kigali, Rwanda.

In an interview with Vision Sports, General Secretary Ronald Musigo shared that the painful decision was due to a shortage of funds.

“It was too expensive to sponsor two teams for a continental championship,” he shared.

“The costs are nearly the same for Cairo and Kigali expect for the air tickets. The team was 100 per cent sponsored by KCC, so it was quite expensive,” he added.

It’s been a sour pill to take but the team has taken it as another step into growth.

“The boys missing the championship in Kigali is hard on them but they are warriors and have been able to accept and cope with the situation.”

“They trust the instruction so they have kept training in preparation for next season and any other tournament,” he concluded.

This leaves Uganda with two representatives who are Sport-S (debutants) and Nemostars who have been at the stage for eight times.
