A delegation of women has met President Adama Barrow at State House, where members commended what they described as key development initiatives undertaken by his government and pledged continued support for its development agenda.
The delegation, led by Honourable Bakary Y. Badjie, held discussions with the President on Tuesday, September 22, focusing on development, inclusion and the role of women in national progress.
According to President Barrow, the women expressed appreciation for development projects implemented by his administration over the years and encouraged the government to continue extending such initiatives to communities across the country.
Barrow told the delegation that his government remained committed to expanding development projects throughout The Gambia, stressing that no region should be left behind in the country’s development process.
He said inclusion would continue to form an important part of the government’s national development agenda, with projects and programmes intended to reach communities across the country.
Several members of the delegation also spoke during the meeting, pledging their continued support for the government’s political activities and broader national development efforts, according to the President’s account of the meeting.
The engagement comes as the government continues to highlight infrastructure, youth empowerment and other development programmes as part of its policy agenda. Bakary Y. Badjie currently serves as The Gambia’s Minister of Youth and Sports, according to the Office of the President.
The State House meeting also provided the women an opportunity to discuss their perspectives on development and reaffirm their willingness to support initiatives they believe could contribute to the country’s social and economic progress.
