Airtel Zambia Launches 50 Fully Funded Technology Scholarships

Airtel Zambia  has launched the Airtel Africa Fellowship, a five-year fully funded scholarship programme aimed at supporting academically gifted students from vulnerable backgrounds pursuing technology-related programmes in Zambia.

The programme, sponsored by the Airtel Africa Foundation , will provide 50 scholarships across the University of Zambia (UNZA)  and Copperbelt University (CBU) , with 25 students selected from each institution.

The scholarship package covers tuition fees and accommodation for the full five-year programme. Recipients will also receive a laptop, monthly data connectivity and a monthly allowance to support their studies.

In addition to financial support, the fellowship will provide internship opportunities designed to give students practical experience and improve their readiness for employment after graduation.

Airtel Zambia Managing Director Hussam Baday said the initiative reflects the company’s focus on using education and digital inclusion to create opportunities for young people and strengthen their participation in the digital economy.

The launch was attended by representatives from Zambia’s Ministry of Education, UNZA and CBU. Brian Makufele, Director of University Education, represented the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education and commended Airtel for its contribution to education.

Applications are now open to prospective first-year students enrolled in eligible technology-related programmes at UNZA and CBU.
