Sudanese giants Al Hilal SC have formally escalated a dispute to the Confederation of African Football just days before the decisive stages of the CAF Champions League.
CAF has confirmed receipt of the case and scheduled a hearing for April 9, signaling that the matter will be reviewed as tensions rise ahead of the semi-final fixtures.
However, Al Hilal have voiced strong dissatisfaction with the process, questioning its transparency and fairness. The club claims it has not been provided with the position of their opponents, RS Berkane, nor that of the player at the center of the dispute—an omission they argue undermines their ability to prepare an adequate case.
Further compounding their concerns, Al Hilal have objected to the appointment of the official set to adjudicate the matter, noting that the same individual had previously ruled on a related issue in a decision the club strongly contested.
With the clock ticking, Al Hilal have issued an ultimatum, demanding a ruling from CAF before April 11. Failing that, they have called for the semi-final fixture involving AS FAR and RS Berkane to be postponed until the matter is resolved.
The club has also warned that should CAF fail to deliver a timely and satisfactory resolution, they will escalate the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
The unfolding situation casts a shadow over the Champions League semi-finals, with the potential for legal intervention threatening to disrupt the competition’s schedule.
