*HELL’S KITCHEN, featuring music & lyrics by 17-time Grammy® winner Alicia Keys, has made its premiere in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre and runs through June 21, 2026. HELL’S KITCHEN is not about a star-struck teen hoping to make it big in the music industry.
Instead, it’s the story of a “puppy love” struck ambitious ingenue bursting at the seams to experience life beyond her culturally infused city block and the confines of her mother’s protection. Add a global pop star, a rich storyline, a fiercely talented cast and the Alicia Keys songbook and you’ve got HELL’S KITCHEN.
What is particularly fascinating is that this show lets you in on the powerful musical influences that shaped Alicia Keys’ life. The stage production takes you there. Beyond the grit and clamor of New York City life are latent artisans on every street, on every block and on every floor of the high rise that Alicia Keys called home.
Miss Keys pays homage to them all. It’s anchored by a mother’s love, a sporadic father and a spicey and gifted community who stand En garde.
In the lead role of “Ali” is Maya Drake, who is dramatic and charismatic. Ali’s mom Jersey is played by Kennedy Caughell and Ali’s father Davis is played by Desmond Sean Ellington. Ali’s piano teacher and mentor is Miss Liza Jane, played by Roz White.
Ms. Caughell, Mr. Ellington and Ms. White are running a three-way tie for show stopping vocal performances. If these voices are anywhere close to the real people who they portray, no wonder Alecia Keys became a powerhouse.
Ms. Keys made a surprise appearance in Los Angeles on opening night. The thrills were off the Richter scale, and Alicia expressed her excitement over the Hollywood premiere of the show.
HELL’S KITCHEN is directed by four-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif, with choreography by four-time Tony Award nominee Camille A. Brown. The book is by Pulitzer Prize finalist and Tony Award nominee Kristoffer Diaz and the show features the music of 16-time Grammy Award-winner Alicia Keys.
The music team of HELL’S KITCHEN includes orchestrations by Tony Award® winner Tom Kitt and Tony Award® nominee Adam Blackstone, arrangements by Alicia Keys and Adam Blackstone, music consulting by Tom Kitt.
The Original Broadway Cast Recording of HELL’s KITCHEN won the 2025 Grammy Award Best Musical Theater Album. The album is available via Alicia Keys Records/Interscope Records on all streaming and digital platforms worldwide and is available for purchase on vinyl and CD.
