Another puppy abuse video surfaces as Buddy’s alleged abuser remains at large

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Another disturbing video showing the alleged abuse of a dog has surfaced in Belize, prompting renewed calls from animal advocates for stronger action against animal cruelty.

The latest footage, which was sent to Breaking Belize News, appears to show a man abusing a puppy. Animal advocates who have seen the video are now appealing for members of the public to help identify the man so that the matter can be investigated and, if warranted, charges brought against him.

The video comes while Steven Barrow, the man police identified in connection with the widely condemned abuse of Buddy the dog in Cotton Tree Village, remains at large.

Police previously reported that Barrow allegedly attacked Buddy, also identified in the police report as “Big Boy,” on July 19, 2026. According to investigators, Barrow was reportedly under the influence of alcohol when he struck the dog with a gallon containing gasoline, causing gasoline to spill over the animal, before continuing to beat it with a stick.

Buddy was later rescued and placed with a foster family, where he began recovering from the abuse.

Police subsequently confirmed that Barrow had been identified but could not be located after moving from his Cotton Tree residence. Authorities said multiple attempts had been made to find him and that the case had been documented so that proceedings could continue once he is detained.

The emergence of another animal abuse video has renewed concern among animal advocates, who are calling for the man seen in the latest footage to be identified and for police to investigate the incident.
