The Atlanta Braves, the best team in baseball, will face the second-best team in baseball next weekend. The Braves and Dodgers will meet for the first time this season on Friday, May 8. That will be one of three games and just a third of the upcoming road trip for Atlanta.
On Wednesday, the Braves closed their three-game series with the Detriot Tigers and packed for a nine-games-in-10-days trip out West.
Atlanta will open with three games in Colorado against manager Walt Weiss’ former club. Weiss managed the Rockies from 2013-2016. The trip will allow Spencer Strider to get back into the pitching rotation. Strider is scheduled to start on Sunday, May 3. That game is scheduled to begin at 3:15 MT.
The Braves will then move to the Pacific Northwest and T-Mobile to face the Seattle Mariners in three games before getting a day off on Thursday, May 7.
The Los Angeles Dodgers series will begin on Friday, May 8, and both Chris Sale and Strider should be available to start games in Dodgers Stadium. That series will be a true litmus test for the Braves, who are currently on a particular streak of success this season. Atlanta has not lost a series this season.
