BDF drone unit participates in Robotics workshop at UB

Members of the Belize Defence Force (BDF) Drone Unit recently participated in a two-day Robotics Workshop hosted by the University of Belize (UB) at its Belmopan Main Campus, marking the beginning of a collaborative effort between the two institutions to strengthen technological knowledge and innovation.

The workshop, coordinated through the Directorate of Training and Doctrine (DOTD) under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Jermaine Burns, brought together BDF personnel and UB Information Technology instructors for practical and theoretical sessions in robotics, coding, electronic components, and hardware troubleshooting.

The training provided participants with a strong foundation in robotics and emerging technologies while introducing concepts that can support future military capabilities and technical development within the Belize Defence Force.

This workshop marks the first step in what is expected to become an ongoing partnership between the Belize Defence Force and the University of Belize, focused on building technical expertise, encouraging innovation, and preparing personnel for the evolving demands of modern defence operations.
