Black Beauty Roster’s NYC Debut Was a Celebration of Black Beauty Excellence!

There are events you attend, and then there are experiences that feel like a true reflection of a movement!Black Beauty Roster’s first New York City event was exactly that, an intentional celebration of artistry, education, and community that brought beauty professionals, enthusiasts, influencers, and brands together from across the country.

From the moment the doors opened, there was something happening in every corner of the venue. Product discoveries, live hair battles, educational sessions, creative demonstrations, and some of the most fashionable looks all under one roof. Everywhere you looked, there was inspiration. More than anything, the space reflected a shared commitment to beauty, creativity, and excellence.

Education remained at the heart of the experience. On the Creative Sessions stage, Danessa Myricks demonstrated how to achieve radiant, effortless-looking skin while sharing techniques that artists of every level could take home and apply in their own work. Her session emphasized accessibility in artistry—showing that high-impact beauty can still feel natural, wearable, and achievable.

Meanwhile, on the main stage, Lacy Redway and the TRESemmé team delivered a standout hair presentation that transformed runway-ready styles into red carpet-worthy looks. The team showcased sleek, structured styling elevated with delicate gold leaf accents for more elevated artistry. Attendees also gained insight into curl teasing techniques designed to enhance shape and volume while preserving texture, an approach that honored versatility and hair health.

The event also highlighted the power of community and connection within the beauty industry. Licensed cosmetologist and content creator Crystal Harrell traveled from Austin, Texas, after discovering Black Beauty Roster nearly two years ago. Her experience reflects the impact of the platform on working artists:

“I wanted to work backstage for a while, and I couldn’t really figure out a way in,” Harrell said. “Black Beauty Roster gave me a space to upload my portfolio, find jobs backstage, network with other hairstylists, learn about brands, and continue growing in my craft.”

Her story highlights what so many attendees recognize about Black Beauty Roster: it is more than a showcase—it is an open door. The platform continues to create access to backstage opportunities, educational programming, and meaningful industry networking. Helping bridge the gap between talent and opportunity for beauty professionals nationwide.
