*A severe medical emergency earlier this year placed Quinton Aaron in intensive care, a period he now associates with a powerful spiritual experience he believes took place while he was unconscious.
The actor was hospitalized in January after a fall at his home that led to a near-fatal stroke and required life support treatment. During that time, “The Blind Side” star says he entered a coma-like state in which he experienced a vivid encounter that felt more real than a dream, TMZ reports.
Aaron describes the moment as taking place in a snowy version of his childhood neighborhood in New York. In his account, he saw a figure he identifies as Jesus Christ, who appeared with darker skin, long white hair, and a luminous presence that stood out in the environment.
He recalls the figure placing hands on his back, an act he believes immediately relieved the intense pain he had been experiencing. That moment, he says, remains physically and emotionally present for him even after waking.
When consciousness returned, Aaron found himself in a hospital bed still connected to medical equipment. He initially assumed he would need surgery, but says he was later informed that it was not necessary. Aaron also shared that during the coma his heart reportedly stopped multiple times, adding another layer to the severity of the episode.
Aaron believes the experience fundamentally altered his perspective, removing long-held fear about death and strengthening his religious faith. Check out what he had to say about seeing Jesus during his coma in the clip above.
Now focused on rehabilitation in Atlanta, Aaron is undergoing physical therapy as he works toward regaining mobility, USA Today reports. The family started a GoFundMe to help cover medical costs.
