Cardi B Promises a Spanish-Language Project After 3rd Album: ‘I Speak Money in English & Spanish’
She previously hinted at releasing a Spanish album in 2024.
Reconnecting with her Dominican roots, Cardi B has plans to fully enter the Spanish market, but not until she releases a third album in English. Following her next LP, Cardi revealed during Sunday’s (April 12) Charlotte, N.C., stop on the Little Miss Drama Tour that she’s looking to drop a Spanish-language project.
“You know I speak money in English and Spanish, b—h. After this album I’m putting out, I’m going to the Spanish market,” she said. “I ain’t talking no more English. Hola, no habla inglés. It’s time to get the Spanish money, b—h. They got a lot of the Spanish money waiting for me, I’m gonna go get it.”
It’s not the first time Cardi has spoken about releasing a Spanish-language album. Back in June 2024, she posted a poll asking the Bardi Gang if they’d want a fully Spanish project from her, and the answer was a resounding yes. Seventy-nine percent, to be exact, were in favor of the Spanish-language album. “OK AFTER MY ENGLISH ALBUM,” she wrote at the time on her IG Story.
Cardi also revealed in a 2016 tweet, as pointed out by Complex, that Spanish was her first language and she learned English when she was 7 years old. “Because English is not my first language and both my parent are immigrant &I learn how 2 speak English when I was 7,” she wrote at the time.
Cardi’s rapped Spanish bars in the past on Ozuna’s “La Modelo” and Shakira’s “Punteria.” Ozuna actually joined Cardi on stage to perform “Taki Taki” during Tuesday night’s (April 14) show in Sunrise, Fla.
Elsewhere from Tuesday’s Little Miss Drama Tour stop, Cardi gave a shout-out to Quavo, who was in the crowd, as well as to his late nephew, TakeOff. “Shout out to my brother Quavo,” Cardi said. “Rest in peace, TakeOff!”
Cardi became close with Quavo and TakeOff while she was married to Offset, who was one-third of the Migos alongside Qua and Take, who was killed in 2022. Cardi filed for divorce from Set for a second time in July 2024.
The Grammy-winning rapper will wrap up her Little Miss Drama Tour this weekend with a pair of shows in Atlanta on April 17 and April 18.
