*Netflix rolled out the red carpet in Inglewood on Tuesday, May 12, hosting a special screening event for its upcoming series “Nemesis” at Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas. The evening brought together cast, creators, and industry guests for an early look at the project, followed by a lively Q&A session in partnership with iHeartMedia.
The post-screening conversation was moderated by Big Boy and featured key creative voices behind the series, including showrunner and creator Courtney A. Kemp and co-creator/executive producer Tani Marole, alongside members of the ensemble cast.
A high-profile industry gathering
The event drew a wide range of talent from across the series’ expansive cast, including Matthew Law, Y’lan Noel, Cleopatra Coleman, Tre Hale, Jonnie Park, Ariana Guerra, Gabrielle Dennis, Michael Potts, Sophina Brown, Cedric Joe, Jeff Pierre, Moe Irvin, Quincy Isaiah, Jay Reeves, Mike O’Malley, Stephanie Sigman, Khalilah Joi, Shane Johnson, Siua Ikale’o, Dawnn Lewis, and William Allen Young, among others.
The screening and panel underscored Netflix’s continued investment in large-scale genre storytelling and ensemble-driven dramas, positioning Nemesis as a major upcoming release.
About Nemesis
“Nemesis” is framed as a high-stakes confrontation between two opposing forces: an expert criminal and a brilliant police detective. At its core, the series explores what happens when an “unstoppable force meets an immovable object,” using that conflict as a launchpad for a broader narrative.
While the story initially engages with the conventions of the heist genre, it deliberately subverts expectations, expanding into themes of family, motivation, morality, and the psychological forces that drive people toward survival—or destruction.
The series aims to balance explosive action with character-driven drama, building tension through both personal stakes and larger systemic conflicts. Here’s the official synopsis: “A relentless LAPD cop becomes obsessed with taking down the master thief behind a string of daring heists — and only one can come out on top.”

Creative leadership and production
The series is led by Courtney A. Kemp as showrunner and creator, with Tani Marole serving as co-creator and executive producer.
Directorial duties are spread across multiple filmmakers, including Mario Van Peebles, Millicent Shelton, Rob Hardy, and Ruben Garcia, each handling different episode blocks. Executive producers Chris Selak and Philipp Barnett also contribute to the production.
With its combination of a star-studded ensemble, genre subversion, and high-concept storytelling, “Nemesis” is positioned as one of Netflix’s most anticipated upcoming series events.
“Nemesis” debuted May 14 with all eight episodes released at once. Check out images from the LA special screening below.
