The Community Broadcasting Foundation (CBF), has been a critical supporter of Victorian Aboriginal for several years, awarding the company several grants that have enabled us to focus on key initiatives, including.
- Ramp up our production schedule to meet a growing demand for VAN Talks content.
- Promoting the Victorian Aboriginal News Hour program to be carried on other radio stations around Victoria.
- The offset of wages required to bring on a trainee journalist who provides further support in content editing.
- Undertake more on-Country interviews by offsetting the costs associated with travelling and maintaining Violet the Van.
- Offsetting production and research costs associated with every interview we undertake as part of the VAN Talks and VAN Hour programming.
About the CBF
We are proud champions of community broadcasting – Australia’s largest independent media sector.
Each year the CBF receives funding from the Australian Government’s Community Broadcasting Program to redistribute in grants to community media organisations, content producers and sector organisations. This year we granted more than $19.15 million to support 343 organisations communicate, connect and share knowledge with their communities through radio, television and digital media. This included First Nations, ethnic, LGBTIQ+ and print-disabled Australians, as well as others in our communities who are underrepresented in other media.
Our funding decisions are guided by the sector-wide ten year plan for greater influence, Roadmap 2033, the CBF Strategic Plan, guidelines for each of the grant streams as well as our own operational policies and guidelines.
Our funding supports organisations to enrich people’s lives with a diversity of choice in our media.
