Congress demands Modi, Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation, suspension of SIR
‘An exercise of doubtful constitutional validity cannot be allowed to decide who may vote in the world’s largest democracy,’ the party said in a resolution.

The Congress on Tuesday accused Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar of organising “vote chori”, or vote theft, on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
The Opposition party demanded that the three resign to ensure the “safety of the Constitution and hard-earned democracy”.
The demand was part of a resolution adopted by the Congress Working Committee, the party’s highest decision-making body, at a meeting on Tuesday.

The Congress also called for the suspension of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, citing concerns about the Election Commission’s functioning following “recent reports of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh-Bharatiya Janata Party’s capture of the entire electoral process”.
The RSS is the parent organisation of the BJP.
The resolution came after The Indian Express reported that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had formally objected 14 times in 10 months to decisions by the poll panel related to the special intensive revision, saying some had been taken without their knowledge.
