Constellation Lodge Marks 125 Years of Brotherhood and Service

A major chapter in Saint Lucia’s fraternal history was celebrated in grand fashion as Constellation Lodge No. 4948 marked its 125th anniversary with a week of ceremonies, remembrance, worship and community celebration.

The Grand United Order of Oddfellows (GUOOF) in Saint Lucia commemorated the rare milestone through a series of activities designed to honour the lodge’s enduring legacy of brotherhood, charitable service and community impact.

Celebrations officially began on Monday during the lodge’s regular meeting night with the induction and initiation of an Honorary Brother, setting the tone for a week steeped in tradition and fraternity. The observances continued on Tuesday during a Council Meeting where Brother Leroy James, PNF, VG, was elevated to the prestigious Jubilee Council.

Thursday’s activities shifted to a more reflective atmosphere as the Castries Patriarchy hosted a memorial service honouring departed brothers and sisters whose contributions helped shape and sustain the organization over generations.

The celebrations culminated on Sunday, May 17, with a grand Thanksgiving Service at the Methodist Church in Castries. Members participated in a vibrant street parade through the capital before proceeding to the church and later returning in formal procession to the Lodge Room. The parade featured musical accompaniment from the Royal Saint Lucia Police Band, while officers attached to the Traffic Department of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force ensured the event proceeded safely and smoothly.

The historic occasion also attracted strong regional and international support, with invited delegations including members of the House and Daughters of David Universal Brotherhood of Speculative Mechanics (UBOSM), Saint Lucia District No. 30, representatives of Nathan Temple No. 6 of the Independence Order of Mechanics Inc. in the United States, and members of the Sisters of the Household of Ruth.

Following the church service, members and guests gathered in the lodge’s banquet hall for fellowship, lunch and entertainment as leaders reflected on the significance of reaching the 125-year milestone. Lodge officials also expressed gratitude to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Band, the Traffic Department and visiting fraternities for helping make the celebrations a success.

Located on St. Louis Street in Castries, Constellation Lodge No. 4948 remains one of Saint Lucia’s longstanding fraternal institutions, promoting friendship, truth, love and charitable service within the community.
