Cooman wins in Antigua, eyes Commonwealth Games

Danaii Cooman delivered a standout performance at Fight Night 2 in Antigua & Barbuda. On Saturday, April 4, he defeated Antiguan boxer Jeremiah Toussaint in front of a sold-out crowd at Lucky Eddi’s in English Harbour.

Competing in the 60kg Lightweight Elite division under senior national head coach Conrad Fredericks, the Vieux Fort native demonstrated skill, discipline and resilience. His technical ability and mental toughness underscored the increasing strength of southern Saint Lucia in boxing.

This victory is an important milestone in Cooman’s preparation for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, where he aims to represent Saint Lucia. The Games will take place from late July to early August in Glasgow, Scotland.

Cooman will next join a five-man squad competing in Martinique April 17–19 at the second annual Caribbean Golden Glove competition.
