On Tuesday, June 2, business executives of major Fortune 500 companies and some of the city’s most well-known entrepreneurs in a multitude of sectors—from real estate and social organizations to sports—came together during the lunch hour at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis for the Atlanta Business League’s annual 47th CEO Awards luncheon.

The annual luncheon was an opportunity to highlight and recognize some of Atlanta’s most influential business leaders.

This year’s ceremony honored the faces driving Atlanta’s current business landscape. TK Petersen and Ryan Wilson, co-founders of The Gathering Spot, received the Visions of Excellence Award, while former WNBA and City Council President Lisa Borders took home the Distinguished Service Award. Eddy Benoit, CEO of The Benoit Group, was named Entrepreneur of the Year.

The prestigious Herman J. Russell CEO of the Year Award went to Brian McGowan, president of Centennial Yards—the massive development currently transforming downtown Atlanta. The program began with last year’s award recipient, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens.

“Atlanta works best when it works for all of us,” said Dickens. “To this year’s honorees, we thank you for creating a space where leadership is uplifted.”

For over 9 decades, the Atlanta Business League has been a safe space for advocacy, providing resources for minority entrepreneurs and businesses.
