If New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart didn’t realize introducing President Donald Trump during a Republican candidates’ political rally on May 22, 2026, would elicit a sour reaction from some teammates, he is truly naïve.

After being immediately called out on social media by Giants linebacker Abdul Carter, Dart tried to distance himself from his own controversy, saying, “Obviously, this was a unique opportunity, being asked and given the opportunity to introduce the President of the United States.”

He said his action was apolitical and gave a wandering statement about past military and governmental service by family members.

Nice try, Jaxson. Not enough.

Dart reportedly spoke in a team meeting following his Trump escapade, as did Carter and other Giants.

Carter said there is no “beef” between him and Dart, adding that the Giants locker room remains unified. He said Dart has a right to do what he wishes politically – but that it is his right and responsibility to speak up too.

His first response was on X: “Thought this s— was AI, what we doing man,” said Carter with a repost of Dart’s presidential introduction.

He followed that up during an interview last week, one that should be a must-read for every Black athlete, regardless of age or success level.

“Some things are bigger than football, and this is one of those things,” Carter said.

“Jaxson is one of our leaders. He’s the face of our franchise. He not only represents himself and what he does, but he represents all of us, and that goes for anybody who wears a Giants uniform.

“But if he chooses to align himself with a man like President Trump, it’s my responsibility based on what I believe and what I stand on, to not only show my teammates that I’m against that but to show the world.”

Bravo, Mr. Carter. Black America needs more sports figures like you.
