Real Housewives of Atlanta” fans have a lot to say about the latest season on social media. While some are enjoying the shade and drama, others take issue with certain casting choices. In particular, they have questioned why K. Michelle was brought in considering her “Love & Hip Hop” past. Others have been critical of Kelli Potter amid her feud with Porsha Williams. Interestingly, Candiace Dillard Bassett addressed this on her podcast. And she thinks fans need to stop insisting that people be fired from RHOA.

Candiace said, “Black people are not a monolith, and we need to see people of all…just like we see all different kinds of white girls. There will be 70 of the same white girl with the same blonde hair, but they’re all different. We need to see different types of Black people. They’re not always going to be people that you like. They’re gonna get on your nerves. But they still belong there.”

She continued, “People saying Kelli on Atlanta needs to go. People saying K. Michelle needs to go. No! Because they are Black people that you don’t like that you wouldn’t hang with or identify with, does not automatically mean that they should be fired. Those types of people exist in the zeitgeist of culture. They exist in the world, and the point of reality TV supposedly is to reflect what is happening in our world. So why are you trying to get rid of people and have the same type of person on the show?”

Candiace thinks Black people are too quick to call for someone’s firing.

“Leave people who are not like you alone, and I’m speaking specifically to Black people, ‘cause we are the first ones to be like, ‘I don’t like her. She needs to leave the show.’ No! You need to shut up and just watch,” she said.
