D’Angelo’s Son Swayvo Twain Cast as Biggie In Snoop Dogg’s Biopic
D'Angelo and Angie Stone's son will play the late rap star in the upcoming movie.

Michael Archer Jr., better known to the world as rapper Swayvo Twain, has been linked to famous musicians as his birthright. The 28-year-old son of R&B singers Angie Stone and D’Angelo will make his film debut playing another one.
He’s been cast as The Notorious B.I.G. in the upcoming Snoop Dogg biopic.
Directed by Hustle and Flow‘s Craig Brewer from a script he reconfigured from the original written by Black Panther and Wakanda Forever writer Joe Robert Cole, the Snoop biopic is scheduled for an August 2027 release date.
The news of Archer, Jr.’s casting was first reported by Variety.
Fans enveloped Archer, Jr. in sympathy and condolences when he lost both of his iconic parents within the same year. Stone, 63, a Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter who was also a rap pioneer, died in a car accident last March. D’Angelo, one of the architects of the neo-soul movement and a three-time Grammy winner, died in October after a private battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 51.
Archer, Jr. says he never wanted to take advantage of his parents’ fame to make his way in the music and entertainment business.
“That’s something that I was struggling with even when my parents was here,” he said on The Jay Hill Podcast in February. “I was the type of kid to go to school, never telling who my folks is. I wasn’t on that. With the music, I never wanted to be like I’m using them or wanted to catapult myself off of them.
He continued, “That was a big thing I was struggling with. Which is why after my mom passed I didn’t speak for a long time because I didn’t want to seem like I was trying to milk it or something like that because that wasn’t even my swag.”
Other cast members include Outer Banks actor Jonathan Daviss as Snoop, Myles Bullock (BMF) as Dr. Dre, Lauren London as Snoop’s mother Beverly Tate, Camron Jones (Panic) as Tupac, Algee Smith as Warren G, Tre Hale (Nemesis) as Suge Knight, Laya DeLeon Hayes (The Equalizer) as Snoop’s wife Shante Broadus, Olly Sholotan (Bel-Air) as Kurupt, Corey Champagne (Seven Seconds) as Nate Dogg and Jonica Booth (Bad Girls Club Chicago, Rap Sh!t) as The Lady of Rage.
Though the Notorious B.I.G. only released a single album in his lifetime and one after his untimely death, he plays a major role in Snoop’s real-life story. Biggie was embroiled in the East Coast West Coast beef that pitted Suge Knight’s Death Row Records, where both Tupac and Snoop were signed, against Diddy’s Bad Boy Records, the label Biggie was signed to.
The Notorious B.I.G. was killed after an awards show in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997. He was 24. His murder remains unsolved. Tupac was shot on Sept. 6, 1996, and died on Sept. 13. He was 25.
Just last month, former gang member Duane “Keefe D” Davis was convicted of first-degree murder for supplying the gun and orchestrating the hit on Shakur. The alleged triggerman, his nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, was long suspected of killing Shakur. His mother, Afeni Shakur, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Anderson, but he was shot and killed in Los Angeles nine months after Shakur’s murder in an unrelated incident.
