After a dour 88 minutes of horribly average football, the Menace Arena suddenly starting ringing out to the sound of ‘GET IN!,’ bellowed out at maximum volume after Parkwood Rangers managed to score a late winner.

The racket came from the lungs of the away team’s Danny Dyer-esque goalie (top photo) who was so excited by the late winner that he couldn’t stop himself repeating the meaningless phrase, over and over and over again.
After the final whistle had blown, “GET IN!” continued to resonate around the ground and, when we left some ten minutes later, we could still hear endless “GET INS!” continuing to pepper the late afternoon sky.
We can’t say for sure, but we wouldn’t be surprised if he’s still “GETTING IN” wherever he is now.
And so that was our Saturday as we watched two hopelessly disjointed teams constantly gifting possession to each other with poor passes and clumsy football.

The football was poor, but there’s no denying the entertainment value that was provided by the GET IN man.
The last time he was at the ground he provided much amusement after he saved what he felt was an unfair penalty and screamed “JUSTICE!” at the crowd.
His team then went on to lose 5-2, with the crowd shouting ‘JUSTICE!’ back at him at every opportunity, but he got his revenge on Saturday.

Anyway, back to the photos from Saturday’s encounter:

A late arrival for the pre-match cuddle.

A decent crowd of just under 200 were at the game.
By comparison, Parkwood’s sparsely attended ground is one of the worst in the league – it’s encased in wire mesh and has a weird low hanging wire that the ball keeps striking.

What looked like a stone cold penalty to our (admittedly biased) eyes was waved away by the ref.

Nathan Gamester had an excellent game in goal, as did Parkwood Rangers’ GET IN-ster.

View from the sidelines.

Before he exploded into an infinite GET IN loop, the visitors’ goalie had multiple stern lectures from the ref who seemed reluctant to punish him in any way.

Peckham come close.

Yes, him again. He was formerly in the goals for the legendarily awful Red Velvet FC.

A more intimate crowd in the World’s Smallest Stand.

A fine save deprived Peckham of an opening goal.

Full time: Peckham 0-1 Parkwood Rangers.
The home players applaud the fans.
