EC says only 2.6% Bengal SIR appeals decided
The data submitted to the top court did not provide a classification of appeals by deleted voters and pleas against inclusions.

The Election Commission has informed the Supreme Court that only 1 lakh of the 38.2 lakh appeals filed in tribunals against inclusions and exclusions made during the special intensive revision of electoral rolls have been disposed of.
The number amounts to only 2.6% of the appeals, which the tribunals had started hearing in April.
On July 17, the court, in a plea filed by Congress leader Prasenjit Bose, had asked the Election Commission to file a counter-affidavit providing details of the pending appeals, and inclusions and exclusions made to the state’s voter lists.
However, the affidavit did not provide a classification of how many appeals were filed by voters who had been deleted and by the Election Commission challenging the inclusion of names.
The data submitted by the poll panel showed that between December 17, 2025 – when the draft electoral rolls in West Bengal were published – and August 7 this year, 34.1 lakh voter registration forms were submitted, the newspaper reported. This includes persons enrolling as first-time voters, and also includes those from the 60 lakh voters who had been deleted from the draft electoral rolls.
