Black Pirates have made three changes to the squad that will play Nondescripts in the Enterprise Cup semifinals on Saturday.
Forwards Samuel Lubwaba and Mubarak Wandera, and winger Pius Ojeabulu have made it to the Pirates bench, having not featured at all in the quartfinal against KCB Rugby. In the starting line up, Eric Mula comes in for Isaac Massa who put in a tremendous shift at Wankulukuku.
In the forwards, Sydney Gongodyo moves to lock to replace Eliphaz Emong, leaving room for Uganda Rugby 7s International Desire Ayera in the backrow. The front row of Ariho Muhumuza, Nathan Bwambale and Alema Ruhweza remains unchanged, with cover of Sunday Jaguar, Umar Duff and Lubwama on the bench.
The backline has remained largely unchanged from the quarterfinal, with the introduction of Stephen Alul and Haruna Muhammad eminent in the second half. Humphrey Tashobya once again starts on the bench for Pirates.
Given this squad selection, the Pirates will need to close the game in the first half since they’ve once again put their best foot forward. One wouldn’t necessarily describe the Pirates bench as a ‘Bomb Squad’, but they are good enough to see out the game late in the second half.
Should the Pirates advance past Nondies, they’ll face either the Menengai Oilers or Kabras Sugar in a final whose exact venue in Kenya is yet to be announced.
